Middle School Coaches & High School Coaches Relationships

Middle school and high school coaches will remain in consistent contact throughout the school year and basketball season

Middle school coaches will attend practices at the high school

High school coaches will attend middle school practices and provide input regarding drills, tactics, evaluations, system

Middle School Practices

90% of practice will focus on fundamentals of the game

Footwork, defensive movement, movement without the ball

Ball-handling, passing, shooting, finishing with correct hand either side

Basic Rules of the game

Enthusiasm at all times

Avoid negativity at all costs

Instruct and correct incorrect mechanisms

Middle School Games

High school coaches will attend weekly middle school games

High school coaches will be there to support, not take over

High school coaches will use game time to build positive rapport with middle school athletes

One middle school game will be played at Highland Park High School

Middle School Student-Athletes and High School Games

MS student athletes will be encouraged to attend as many high school games as possible

High school coaches will email reminders about games to middle school coaches

There will be at least one middle school night honoring the middle school athletes at a home basketball game
