Closing Gaps

Closing Performance Gaps

There will naturally be gaps in the different varieties of performance whether that be in the classroom, following decorum, in practice, in games, etc. We must have a system to identity and close those gaps. Ultimately, we have to presume that any phenomenon occurring or not occurring is a result of our structures, protocols, culture, and rituals.

  • Knowledge Gaps
  • “What do you want me to do?”
  • “How do you want me to do it?”

Gaps in Knowledge are closed through INFORMING, TEACHING, TRAINING

  • Importance Gaps
  • “Why do you want me to do it?”
  • “When do you want me to do it?”

Gaps of urgency are closed through PRIORITIZATION, COMMUNICATION, EXPECTATIONS

  • Action Gaps
  • “Do I chose to do it?”
  • “Am I intentional about how I do it?”

Gaps of action are closed through CULTURE, COMMITMENT, ACCOUNTABILITY

ULTIMATELY, IF OUR STAFF AND OUR SYSTEMS HAVE NOT ATTENDED TO THESE NINE DEGREES OF GAP CLOSING, THE PROBLEM IS A MATTER OF LEADERSHIP AND NOT A PROBLEM WITH THE SUBORDINATE UNTIL THESE DEGREES ARE IMPLEMENTED
