Academics

Academic success is the number one priority for our Basketball Program. All student-athletes will demonstrate their understanding of the importance of academics by maintaining a 75 or higher in EVERY class (including AP courses). The coaching staff will maintain open lines of communication with the teaching staff in regards to student-athlete behavior & grades.

Academic Plan

  1. Student-Teacher-Coach Relationship
Coaches of respective team (Freshman, JV, Varsity) will email their student-athletes’ teachers at the start of the year to encourage the teachers to contact coach with any praises or concerns pertaining to specific student-athletes

  2. Tutorials
In the event a student-athlete does not have higher than a 75 in a class, tutorials will be mandatory until the grade is raised
    1. Tutorial logs will be kept by all student-athletes. Teacher signature and length of tutorial will be required information

  3. Grade Checks
    1. UIL grade reports will be checked every three weeks
    1. Coaches will maintain contact with concerned teachers
    2. Prevent low grades as opposed to catching up

  4. Post Graduate Plan

    1. Coaches will assist student-athletes in filling out necessary paperwork for college entry
    1. Coaches will keep close contact with counselors for new and necessary college information that needs to be communicated to student-athletes
